Endeavour Summer Social

On Thursday 8th June, our good friends at Osborne Bros hosted our Summer Social on Billet Wharf with entertainment from the Hoy Shanty Crew.

The Summer Social is an opportunity for our members to get together to enjoy local seafood and each other’s company with Endeavour sitting dressed overall on her mooring nearby.

Chris Burls gave the assembled company an update on Endeavour’s tales over the previous winter,  and the problems getting her launched from Leigh marina, over a series of very poor neap tides and then upriver to the Little Ship Coronation celebrations in St Katharine’s Dock marina.

It was then time to eat.

As ever, the food was delicious and the evening was then further enhanced by a series of rousing sea songs from the Hoy Shanty crew, and to our great delight, chairman David Norman was presented with a cheque for £1,250 by Eileen Harris, the Chair of the Leigh-on-Sea Lions Club, this being our share of the profits from the Leigh Shanty Festival that the Lions had co-organised.  To that was added £128 from the evening’s raffle.

Thank you to everyone that came along—we look forward to welcoming you next year!
