Platinum Jubilee Cruises

Endeavour was busy over the Jubilee weekend, taking members from Bell Wharf to Southend Pier on the afternoon tide. Rob Everitt was there to greet them, and pass them into the capable hands of Andy Wood, Alan Barttram and Chris Burls on board Endeavour.
Andrew Saville arranged to go with his son and wife and children, and his daughter and her boys on Friday 3rd of June, but was unable to go due to illness. The rest of the family still came on board and enjoyed their time on the water. We removed the covers from the hold and the family were able to sit comfortably on the plank seating. It was a slightly grey day at times, but it was pretty flat on the water despite a reasonable easterly wind.

A little bit of spray is part of the experience anyway!

Andrew's son Rupert wrote to the Trust to say "Thank you all very much for the fantastic trip you put on for us this afternoon. The boys absolutely loved the experience; it will be something we all have fond memories of for years to come."

The Trust would like to wish Andrew all the best for his continued recovery.

Unfortunately, the weather on Saturday was a little too rough for comfort and the Trust decided to cancel that day's trip, but we were able to get out again on Sunday.

Glynis Moss, whose father Peter Snoud crewed Endeavour during the Dunkirk evacuations, was on board.

"I took my daughter Jo with me on our Jubilee trip on Endeavour, and we both really enjoyed it. It is always a great experience and to be a part of keeping Endeavour afloat is something special."

Chris Burls said, "Over three of the four days of the Jubilee holiday, Endeavour hosted 26 members and their families for trips along the foreshore and out to the end of the pier. Dressed overall in celebration, she thus was able to combine a thank you to our members for their support, with a ‘showing the flag’ exercise for the town."

There was some nice weather, see? Endeavour's out there somewhere!
