A Model of Excellence

Jimmy Waters wrote to us after the recent Summer Reception at Osbornes - which he reported enjoying very much and noted Endeavour looked absolutely splendid (he lamented the fact that wife Barbara hadn't brought her camera to capture some shots of her dressed overall) - to give us an update about Endeavour's model replica, which we've featured before.

It was the Trust’s AGM last night, and a very decent turnout of members, supporters and volunteers enjoyed a review of the Trust’s year on shore, off shore and online courtesy of trustees and committee members.

One item about our website and social media led to an offer from Andrew Millham to set up an Endeavour Trust Instagram account.

Photos from St Kats

Rob Everitt dropped us a few shots to give us a flavour of the weekend at St Katherine Docks for the Classic Boat Festival. Endeavour and many of her fellow ADLS vessels will now make the journey up the Thames to Penton Hook for the Veteran's Cruise.

We are delighted to announce that Endeavour is home again! We would like to thank Brian Kennell and Shaun White of Brian Kennell Boatbuilders for their excellent care and restoration of Endeavour over the last few months.

Following the completion of anti-fouling and painting at St Osyth, Paul Gilson and Alan Barttram brought her home on Monday 8th June.

Here are some photos by Paul of her return and resting against Bell Wharf (click to enlarge). It's lovely to have her back on her home mud again!

and has been kindly provided by Stuart Emery from his vast collection
of photographs of Leigh boats.

The boat on the left of picture, LO504, is the fellow Dunkirk ’little ship’ Defender.

We are grateful to both Peter Wexham and Peter Osborne who helped to identify the person to the right of ‘Peter’ Snoad in this photograph, which featured in our last newsletter, as Ivan Emery.

Mark Cass has kindly given permission for us to print this photograph that he took recently as the sun was setting.

This photograph of Endeavour was taken in the late 70s or early 80s. is provided by Stuart Emery from his vast collection of photographs of Leigh boats. She is on the same mooring as used today and the weed rakes aboard show that she was white weeding at the time.

James Colin 'Peter' Snoad

We are extremely grateful to Glynis Moss for letting us use this photograph which she found amongst some old family photos. Her Dad, James Colin Snoad, known as Peter Snoad is standing on the left of the picture. Glynis doesn't know the gentleman on the right.
