Our current Treasurer, Rob Everitt, has decided that after a few years in the role, he intends to stand down – which makes an opportunity for somebody to come in and take over the Treasurer role. Rob says that now we've 'gone digital', the role is far more streamlined and less arduous than in previous times and it's now quite a smooth role (...and trips to the local HSBC bank in Leigh-on-Sea are a thing of the past!!)
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) gives the following definition of the role of the treasure:
Rob can offer guidance, support and training as necessary.Generally the treasurer helps trustees carry out their financial responsibilities. They might do this by:
- presenting financial reports to the board in a format that helps the board understand the charity’s financial position
- advising the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities
- working with professional advisors
- overseeing the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts
- (in small charities) taking on some or all day to day financial duties, such as book-keeping, budgeting and preparation of reports.
So, if this role of interest to you, or if you’d like further information, perhaps you could contact Rob in the first instance for a chat, or maybe meet up for a coffee?
Rob’s email is [Redacted] and phone number is [Redacted].
In the meantime, we would like to thank Rob for all of his considerable time and effort on behalf of the Trust over the past few years. He has been a very valued member of the team and will be much missed as he steps back.
