Summer Reception

This year's reception is on 11th June, starting at 7pm. We are delighted and very grateful to Peter Osborne for allowing the use of his premises and also to the Crooked Billet PH for making the whole of Billet Wharf available to us. Last year we had in excess of 100 attending and we hope that members will support in similar numbers this time.

The committee was disappointed with the food last year so we have pulled out all the stops to make sure that this time it is of a high standard. An outside caterer will provide hot and cold delights in individual portions, handed around by waiting staff. The menu will include goujons of haddock and chips, mini pizza pies, Thai fish cakes with chilli sauce, hot smoked salmon, mash and balsamic glaze, chicken satay, prawn cocktail and of course cockles, mussels and prawns. Cheese and biscuits and strawberry and cream scones will follow.

We have managed to keep the price to the same as last year at £13.50 per person. Special dietary requirements can be catered for and we request  that you indicate these when you order tickets, using the tear off slip on the letter.

Please return your slips as soon as possible so that we can advise the caterer of numbers and dietary requests as soon as is possible.

We trust members and quests  agree that this is a wonderful venue and with the advantage of more reasonably priced drinks available from the Billet including, hopefully, a special ‘Endeavour’ real ale.

Endeavour, having recently returned from Dunkirk and Ostend, will be moored at the dockside adjacent to the wharf and skipper Paul and crew will be on hand to talk to everyone about the voyages and  programmes held in both towns.

Finally, this is a wonderful opportunity to raise much needed funds with everyone enjoying a wonderful evening on Leigh’s waterfront. We would appreciate any prizes that you can donate for the raffle. If you have any please contact  Peter Dolby or Finlay Marshall.
